State

Designing a behavior change plan means combining reinforcement schedules, shaping, modeling, self-efficacy, and intrinsic motivation, and anticipating each failure mode.

Show

One target — a person establishing a daily writing practice — designed completely: the target behavior shaped from an achievable first approximation, the schedule chosen and why, the model available and the vicarious reinforcement visible, the self-efficacy built through early success, the extinction burst anticipated at week three, and the overjustification risk in the reward chosen. Ends by naming the one element that determines whether the habit survives the plan ending.
