Aneuploidy

State

Aneuploidy is a chromosome number that departs from the normal set by one or more whole chromosomes, most often from nondisjunction.

Show

A trisomy carries three copies of one chromosome instead of two; a monosomy carries only one.

Watch for

Aneuploidy changes chromosome count only — it is not the same event as a point mutation changing a single gene's sequence.
